Knead closes in the Short North

Posted on:

Sadly, it seems the rumors are now true. Rick Lopez has closed Knead Urban Diner on High Street. But, he promised when we spoke today, the closure is more of a relocation. The chef and owner is currently scouting locations in Clintonville and Grandview for a new iteration of Knead, which opened across the street from the convention center in 2010 and was perhaps best known for its Motherclucker sandwich and house-made fennel ketchup.

In the meantime, Lopez is preparing to revive his once-popular Italian restaurant, La Tavola, in Grandview, across the street from the Grandview Heights Public Library. The sign is up at this First Street spot, and staff is being trained today. —Beth Stallings
