Buy a pint of Jeni’s, get a plant

In celebration of Earth Day this month, Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams has partnered with four area markets for a special giveaway they’re calling Plants for Pints.

Here’s the deal: Buy a pint of Jeni’s or make a donation to Green Columbus (donations will support the volunteer group’s Earth Day events) at the register and you’ll get a free organic herb plant in a reused Jeni’s pint container. The deal kicks off today, April 11 at both area Whole Foods Markets locations in Dublin and Upper Arlington. Whole Foods will offer the potted plants through Sunday, April 13 (or while supplies last). Plants for Pints will continue Monday, April 21 through Wednesday, April 23 at Weiland’s Market in Clintonville and The Hills Market Downtown.

Here’s what you get: Each store will have 400 seedlings—potted by Jeni’s employees and Swainway Urban Farm—to give away. Herbs include lavender, mint, rosemary, and thyme—all herbs used in Jeni’s Wildberry Lavender, Backyard Mint and Yazoo Sue with Rosemary Bar Nuts flavors. The soil is Zoo Brew, a compost created from Jeni’s fruit and veggie scraps and the zoo’s bedding waste.
