Columbus pizza gem Bono Pizza has served its last pie yesterday at its closet-of-a-space inside a Northwest Boulevard convenient store, according to their Facebook page.
Regulars of the pizza shop knew this was always a possibility after Jake Wilch bought the restaurant last year from its longtime owner Bill Yerkes, and seemed to constantly be battling a lease agreement with the building’s owner.
Bono plans to be back up and running on Friday in a temporary space down the street (yet to be announced), until a permanent spot in Grandview Heights can be found (hopefully by mid-March their Facebook page says).
Bono’s pizza has been touted as some of the best in the city, and made our list of favorite weekday dining spots in the latest issue of Crave. Here’s hoping they reopen soon. –Beth Stallings
