New Belgium brews hit Columbus shelves and taps

By

Beers from Colorado-based New Belgium Brewing officially hit store shelves and bar taps today.

The third largest craft brewer in the US is perhaps best known for its Fat Tire Amber Ale. But on Thursday night, I got a sneak taste of their full Ohio lineup. On Thursday, I got a sneak taste of their full Ohio lineup. Grab the Accumulation White IPA, their winter seasonal, while it’s still around. It’s bright and hoppy with citrus, blueberry and peppery notes.

I really enjoyed sampling a few of their limited release Lips of Faith series. The Heavenly Feijoa Tripel is a little fruity and a little floral (thanks to hibiscus) without being sweet. The Cigar City Collaboration Ale is sweet at first, but finishes more toward the bitter side with a touch of spice.

For now, New Belgium beers will only be available in 22-ounce bottles and on tap. Six- and 12-packs will arrive at local stores in February.

Here’s what’s available in bomber-size bottle:

Fat Tire

Ranger IPA

Trippel

Lips of Faith Cigar City Collaboration Ale

Lips of Faith Paardebloem Ale

Lips of Faith Heavenly Feijoa Tripel
