Welcome Crave readers! I wanted to take a quick moment to introduce myself—I’m Beth Stallings, the new editor of Crave, and I am beyond excited to be here to share the latest and greatest in the Columbus dining scene.

What better way to get to know me than by sharing a few of my latest dining quirks? Here goes:

My favorite food (for right now): Zucchini (but any squash will do!). Don’t believe me? You should see my garden with zucchini, acorn and spaghetti squash plants spilling over the sides. The light and barely salted Zucchini Pronto at Basi Italia is my heaven.

What I’m drinking: On these 90-degree summer days, there’s nothing more refreshing than a Moscow mule. I’m not normally a vodka drinker (bourbon’s my liquor of choice), but the combo of vodka, ginger beer and mint—especially out of a classic copper cup like it’s served at The Pearl—is light and cooling.

Where I’m eating cheap: I live near Grandview, so Local Cantina’s earned a regular rotation on my dining out list—especially on the nights when I need something simple and fast. But what I love about this place has less to do with food (although the tacos are pretty tasty) or beer selection. I love that every time I pop in I never know who will be at the next table: young professionals at happy hour, moms and dads with little ones, 60-something couples  on a mid-week date. I love places that bring all generations together like one big family dinner table.

What I’m craving: The Tomato Provencal Baked Eggs at Pistacia Vera—a dish that will inspire me to get up early. I just scheduled a breakfast meeting so I can get my fill ASAP.
