Pint House's food menu

By Columbus Alive

Posted on:

As its name indicates, the new Pint House Beer Garden is, for the most part, all about the beer. But there is a food menu, and I quite enjoyed pairing some nibbles with a couple beers during a happy hour there earlier this week. Of course, it might have helped that we somehow were able to snag the very best seat in the house--a sunny table right in the window opening on High Street.

The big draw at this beer garden is a retractable roof that lets the sun shine in on nice days, and windows that can open to the sidewalk. It's a fun way to repurpose one of the classic Short North buildings, which are typically long, narrow, high-ceilinged and dark.

Somewhat contrary to the Pint House name, most beers aren't served in pint glasses. My Columbus Brewing Company Summer Teeth was served in a giant 21-ounce mug, while higher alcohol-content beers are served in smaller glasses. Foodwise, we tried the pretzel sampler. On a cutting board (the trendiest new way to serve food!), we got three pretzels and three dips: a pretzel baton with grainy mustard, a cheese-filled-and-topped pretzel with beer cheese sauce, and a sweet-cream-filled pretzel with cinnamon dipping sauce. All tasty, but there's a LOT--so plan to share with a big group.
