Jack's Steakhouse in Logan

By Columbus Alive

Posted on:

During a quick jaunt to Hocking Hills over the weekend, my traveling companions and I found ourselves famished after a morning hike. We wanted to try something authentic to the area, and we definitely found it in Jack’s Steakhouse. This place was correctly pitched to us as more of a diner than a steakhouse, and its retro wood-panel-and-taxidermy decor was complemented by a giant menu and a hilariously long list of light beers and wine coolers.

While the men in the group bravely went for the day’s special, a discounted filet priced at just $9.99 (by all accounts a perfectly decent piece of meat), I hemmed and hawed and finally settled on breaded perch with a baked sweet potato. My perch was fresh and nicely fried, and my potato was adorably sided with a butter pat and a teensy cup of brown sugar.

House-made pies in the front case tempted, but we ended up going with the tabletop-advertised toasted ravioli as a snack for the table instead—and I think we made the right choice.

Jack’s itself isn’t worth the drive to Logan, but paired with the gorgeous natural scenery of Hocking Hills, this place is well worth checking out.
