Beef Carpaccio at Manifesto

By Columbus Alive

Posted on:

Last weekend, I embarked on a culinary adventure that will be fully documented in our next cover story, to be called 24 Small Plates in 24 Hours. You'll have to wait till March to read all about it, but for a sneak peek, check out my photo documentation of the day's eats by searching for #24smallplates on Twitter or Instagram. One of my very favorite dishes of the day also happened to be the most expensive, this absolutely stunning plate of Kobe beef carpaccio ($18) from the new Manifesto.

It's slices of raw beef pounded till they're paper-thin, drizzled in truffle oil(!), topped with shaved parmesan and crispy fried capers. Layer some beef, cheese, capers and greens onto a piece of flatbread and it's just a perfectly delicious bite.

This was my first visit to Manifesto, the Downtown spot boasting the same owner (and chef) as De-Novo. During our middle-of-the-afternoon visit, we were the only ones eating there, but I was impressed by all three small plates we tried (we also ordered the Beef Cheek with wild mushroom risotto and the Eggplant Rotelli). Can't wait to return for a proper dinner and see if this place holds up.
