  • Squash pancake at G. Michael's

    I'd like to take the time to give props to an outstanding vegetarian dish, the kind of thing that makes me believe that I could (one day, theoretically) do the whole vegetarian thing without going into withdrawal. It's G. Michael's Roasted Spaghetti Squash Pancake, and it's the best thing I ate all week.

    Goetta is one of those regional delicacies that means very little to outsiders, but it’s a taste of home to someone who ate it growing up. First things first: it’s pronounced “get-uh.” As the sign says at The Diner in Powell: “The O is silent, until you try it.”

  • Openings: The Crest

    I will admit I drove right on by the Crest a couple times before finally mustering the courage to stop in. The crowds have been insane since the former dive bar reopened in its new gastropub incarnation at the end of April, with lines waiting outside just about any time of day.

  • Pint House's food menu

    As its name indicates, the new Pint House Beer Garden is, for the most part, all about the beer. But there is a food menu, and I quite enjoyed pairing some nibbles with a couple beers during a happy hour there earlier this week.
